The construction company „Grading“ contributed to the visual uniqueness of this neighborhood by hiring academic painters to design the facades of four residential buildings. Motifs of birds and fruits characteristic of Šumadija – grapes, plums and apples – broke the strictness of the straight lines of contemporary construction. Murals and mosaics in bright and pastel tones enliven the view and give the streets an optimistic character.
Unlike the neighborhoods where all the buildings are similar and it is difficult to distinguish one street from another, the surroundings of „Sokolis“ exude the originality of shapes and colors, which even encouraged two popular local cafes to bear the names of great painters – „Picasso“ and „Salvador“ (Dalí). An interesting fact is that Olja Ivanjicki, one of our most famous artists, lived in this area.
